1. Information We Collect

We do not sell your personal information. The App requires certain data to provide its core educational and map-based features:

Account Information: When you register via email/password or a third-party provider (like Google Sign-In), we collect your email address, username, and authentication data to create and secure your account.
Location Data (Precise & Approximate): We use your device's location to unlock stories and myths specific to real-world archaeological sites. Precise location is used only when you are at a site to verify your visit.
User Account & Progress Data: To track your adventures, we collect and store your earned XP (Experience Points), levels, completed quizzes, and site visit history.
User Content (Photos & Camera Access): If you choose to use your camera (android.permission.CAMERA) to upload a photo to claim a site or complete a challenge, that image is securely stored to display on your profile or the public feed.
App Diagnostics (Optional): Basic technical information, such as crash logs or performance data, may be collected to improve app stability and user experience.

2. How We Use Information

To authenticate your account securely.
To unlock location-based content, myths, and stories.
To maintain global leaderboards and track your XP and ranking.
To save your game progress across different devices.
To display your uploaded photos as part of your explorer profile.
To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve app performance.

3. Data Storage & Sharing

Storage: Your account details, game progress, and uploaded images are stored securely using third-party cloud service providers (e.g., Supabase). This ensures you do not lose your progress if you switch or lose your device.

Sharing: We do not share your personal data with advertisers. However, your username, XP, and avatar/uploaded content may be visible to other players on the public leaderboards or activity feeds within the game.

4. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You have full control over your data. You can delete your account and all associated personal data (including your email, progress, and photos) from both your local device and our secure cloud servers (Supabase) at any time.

In-App Deletion: Navigate to the Settings menu within the App and tap the "Delete Account" button.
Email Deletion Request: You may also request account and data deletion by emailing us directly at mythosquestapp@gmail.com.

5. Your European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

Because Mythos Quest operates under Greek jurisdiction, users are protected by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request the correction of inaccurate data.
Request the deletion of your data (as outlined in Section 4).
Restrict or object to our processing of your data.

6. Age Requirements and Children’s Privacy

Mythos Quest is designed to be an educational experience for all ages. However, in accordance with Greek law and the GDPR, users under the age of 15 must have verifiable permission from a parent or legal guardian before we can collect personal data such as location, photos, or email addresses. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 15 without such consent.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
